Faith Reflections

At our Hub meetings, our leaders share a faith reflection, based on their holy scriptures, that they believe reveals something that will inspire, call to task, or fortify Faith in Action Alabama members in their everyday work of liberation. To encourage you on the journey you have been called to by a loving God, we share this Faith Reflection with you and pray blessings and peace on your path.

Faith Reflection by Pastor Robert Lewis at Birmingham Hub Meeting on May 12, 2022

At the Faith in Action Alabama Birmingham Hub Meeting, Pastor Robert Lewis presents a reflection on training up the next generation of Alabamians based on Proverbs 22:6-9. He dives deep into what training our youth and successors means in the context of systemic oppression and expounds on the mission of righteous people of all faiths in an unjust world. Join us here several times a month as we share real, raw interpretations of God's word from the perspective of Faith in Action Alabama leaders of many different faiths. Faith in Action Alabama changes marginalized communities by empowering & equipping on-the-ground community leaders to make change in the Deep South from the inside out. FIAAL is firmly rooted in our mission “to honor God by dismantling systemic racism and creating pathways of opportunity for all Alabamians,” and our community leaders come from diverse faith, race, economic, and geographic backgrounds. May It Be So. Proverbs 22:6-9 6 Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray. 7 The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender. 8 Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity, and the rod of anger will fail. 9 Those who are generous are blessed, for they share their bread with the poor.
